As a member of the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB), Extole was asked to participate in a webinar titled, “Why Do People Share Online?” With consumer sharing online at an all time high, understanding the motivations behind it is integral to marketers’ strategies. The webinar explored just that – as it highlighted The New York Times report, “The Psychology of Sharing,” and included real-life examples from a brand, agencies and Extole.
Extole discussed how consumer behavior has evolved dramatically, giving marketers the opportunity to amplify the power of their consumer advocates to drive successful social media initiatives. MediaWhiz weighed in on the convergence of search and social media and how to utilize search within a marketers social media plan. Smiley 360 and Con Agra Foods shared a case study on how PAM used social media to increase sales and brand awareness.
Each participant in the webinar tailored their social media initiatives based on the fact that their consumers are sharing online. By utilizing this knowledge to drive their initiatives, results were seen across the board. Consumers are more powerful than ever, and understanding the psychology of why they share online can help shape successful social marketing programs.
