Roses in your ride? Why not? This Valentine’s Day the beloved ride-sharing service Uber has teamed up with the leading flower delivery service, ProFlowers, to bring riders more than just a lift. Every rider who takes an Uber today will have a chance of getting either a rose or a special ProFlowers card during his or her trip. The gesture is just another example of the companies’ continued dedication to deliver unique experiences and drive customer satisfaction, and, it doesn’t hurt to be top of mind with customers on one of the busiest days of the year.
On top of promotions like this, both companies also have referral marketing programs in place to reward their existing customers for referring their friends. Their double-sided referral programs reward both existing and new customers, helping the brands to continually drive new customer acquisition.
Uber and ProFlowers are definitely doing it right when it comes to understanding the influence their customers can have on their peers and how to strategically tap into that. By providing customers with “moments of joy” (there’s a rose in my ride!), they are happy and feel valued. When customers are happy in those specific moments, they are more likely to refer. Add a gift, and they are even more inclined to do so. Talk about a marketing match made in Heaven.
