The annual WOMMA Summit took place at the beautiful Wynn Resort in Las Vegas November 12 -14th. Around 400 marketers gathered to talk about what is and isn’t working around their word of mouth (WOM) marketing strategies. Speakers from brands and agencies alike took the stage and encouraged high-level discussions around the social media marketing landscape.
On the first day of the Summit, Extole presented with our customer, TastingRoom, about “Social Marketing 2.0 and Facebook’s Open Graph.” Extole’s VP of Marketing, Angela Bandlow, opened the presentation up by talking about how consumer behavior has changed, the power of harnessing consumer WOM conversations online, and how Facebook’s Open Graph enables the process. Ian Hackett, the VP of Ecommerce at TastingRoom, took it from there and walked through a case study of how TastingRoom is leveraging its owned assets and Facebook’s Open Graph to drive awareness, acquisition and sales. With the launch of its new website, TastingRoom has fully integrated an Open Graph enabled referral marketing program and social expressions, powered by Extole. The killer combination socializes the TastingRoom website, giving consumers a number of ways to share their passion about the brand.
After the presentation, the Summit segued into its Orange Carpet Reception that was sponsored by AT & T and Extole, featuring TastingRoom wines. Summit attendees were able to try some of the TastingRoom’s wines and learn more about its unique selling proposition – consumers can buy their wines by the bottle, glass, or a taste! The selling options were even a hit among Las Vegas impersonators Liza Minnelli, Barbra Streisand and Lady Gaga, as they all stopped by the TastingRoom table to check it out!
The Summit was filled with great conversations, further validating Extole and its social advocacy platform. The ability to foster WOM recommendations around a brand is one of the key components to marketing success.
Up next, Extole will be in New York for the AllFacebook Marketing Conference as our Co-Founder & VP Business Development, Andrew Beranbom, will be on two panels. If you will be at the Conference, we would love to meet up. Drop us a line at firstname.lastname@example.org to set something up!
